Format of the Living Environment Regents

Part A

Consists of 35 multiple-choice questions that test your knowledge of specific factual information. You must answer all questions in Part A. Maximum of 35 credits awarded.
Part B --Multiple-Choice and Free-Response

Variable number of questions that may be based on the student's direct knowledge of biology, interpretation of experimental data, analysis of readings in science, and ability to deal with representations of biological phenomena. The questions are a mix of multiple choice, fill in the blank and short response. You will be required to answer all questions of Part B, with a maximum of 30 credits awarded.
Part C --Free-Response

Variable number of questions that may be based on the student's direct knowledge of biology, interpretation of experimental data, analysis of readings in science, and ability to deal with representations of biological phenomena. The questions usually require students to respond in short paragragh form. You will be required to answer all questions in Part C. Maximum of 20 credits awarded.
Part D --Required State Lab Assessment
Questions concerning the concepts and skills learned while performing the four lab activities that New York State requires: Making Connections, Diffusion through a Membrane, Beaks of Finches, and Relationships and Biodiversity.
